The City of Atlanta operates and maintains over 48,000 valves, 24,000 hydrants, and 2,700 miles of distribution system piping. In addition, new and upgraded water mains and appurtenances are needed to allow for the ongoing growth and development within the City’s water service area. This contract provides for the construction of new mains and the installation and repair of water distribution system appurtenances. Maintenance, preservation and renewal of critical assets are vital to public safety and operation, maintenance, and optimization of the water distribution system.
The scope of the project includes
- Includes but not limited to finishing and installing water main distribution pipe, valves and fittings.
- Relocating, furnishing and installing, removing and salvaging fire hydrants, service connections and other appurtenances.
- Adjusting to grade water valves, connecting new distribution mains to existing distribution mains, pavement removal and replacement, and providing emergency response and repairs to the water distribution system on an on-call basis.
