Project Name: Distribution System Appurtenances
The City of Atlanta operates and maintains over 48,000 valves and 24,000 hydrants in its water distribution system. Many of these appurtenances are old and subject to repair and/or replacement in order to maintain public safety and isolate water main breaks for repair.
Maintenance, preservation and renewal of critical assets is vital to public safety and effective operation, maintenance, and optimization of the water distribution system. This annual contract will help repair and replace valves and hydrants across the water distribution system.
The scope of this project includes:
• Install, repair and maintain valves and hydrants
Justification:
• Improved operational reliability of critical assets related to public safety and system performance
• Isolation and minimization of impact of infrastructure failures
• More responsive and effective attention to water main breaks and public safety emergencies
