Project Name: Clear Creek West Sewer Improvements – Civic Center Vault
This project will address combined sewer capacity issues in the Clear Creek West Combined Sewer Basin of the City of Atlanta. The area drains a portion of the Federal Interstate Highway system in downtown Atlanta, Grady Hospital, Georgia State University, GDOT right of way Company, COA Civic Center and City Scape Apartment complex. The Clear Creek West Basin is drained by Butler Street Combined Sewer Trunk, Butler Street Combined Sewer Relief Trunk and the Highland Avenue Combined Sewer Trunk. The work to be performed under this project includes design and construction of an underground concrete vault having a nominal capacity of 4 million gallons along with all ancillary systems and components.
The scope of this project includes:
Designing and constructing an underground storage vault having a capacity of 4 million gallons along with all ancillary systems and components at the Atlanta Civic Center.
Justification:
- Addresses stormwater capacity issues in the Clear Creek West combined sewer basin
- Improves customer service by providing additional storm capacity
- Improves the efficiency of the combined sewer system and reduces the risk off flooding
- Provides additional drainage for the right of way, which improves public health and safety
